I
have been involved with motoring and motor sport for
over 50 years. With my home built Austin 7 sports I
started racing it at Brands Hatch in 1956. From there
I progressed to the first Marcos which I purchased in
1959 and raced in 1960 to 1965.
These were interesting times and I was quite successful
with this car winning the Autosport Championship in
1961 and was a member of the English World Cup team
that won the 50 laps race at Zandvoort the same year.
In 1963 and 1964 I went to the Nurburgring for the 500
km race and won the class at the first attempt.
There followed a period whilst I was involved with raising
a family. However I did manage to compete in some events
and won the VSCC Voiturette Trophy at Thruxton in 1968.
I acquired a Vauxhall 30-98 from Australia and rebuilt
it and still use it for events and holidays. Later on
I drove in races for others including Nick Mason’s
ERA R10B and Gerald Palmer’s Targa Florio Mercedes.

My
most cherished car is probably the Maclachlan Austin
7 single seater which I have owned for 53 years and
with which I still compete, having just returned from
defending my record at the Etretat-Benouville Hill Climb
in France. My wife Lynette is also working alongside
me in developing and up-dating the site.

Some 3 years ago I decided that we should set up a new
photo gallery website called motorsnaps.com which was
intended to allow me to put all my photographs on-line
for the benefit of others. This original concept has
grown and we now have pictures from many different sources.
I recently took over Eric Dimmock’s collection
and these pictures are gradually being scanned in.
As the site grows we intend to have pictures of every
car recorded as a massive archive for enthusiasts and
writers to draw upon. We are also continually adding
to the Video collection.

or £30.00 for hard copies. These will be subject
to the quality of the originals in our possession.
