1968 Alfa Romeo Tipo 33/2
Chassis no. 75033.016
Engine no. 0022
One of the most beautiful sports-prototypes of its era
Rare (circa ten known to exist) and one of even fewer in long tail configuration
Preserved on museum display for decades
Eligible for Goodwood, Le Mans Classique, Tour Auto, Modena Cento Ore and much more
Developed and improved after its ’67 launch, the 33 became the 33/2 and started to win races. Rarest and most beautiful was the long tail version, created for high speed circuits like Le Mans, and this is one of them. A double Le Mans entrant (‘68/9) also believed to have raced at the gruelling Targa Florio in ‘69, it later spent many years in the much-missed Rosso Bianco collection which was sold ‘en bloc’ to the current owner. Offered in untouched, largely preserved condition, this is a fascinating example of the beauty of late 1960s sports-prototypes boasting an exotic specification and a legendary badge. A rare survivor.
