This car was the first automobile product of Bergmann's Industriewerke who later made cars under the names Bergmann and Gaggenau. Theodor Bergmann made vending machines and entered the car manufacturing business with a design by Josef Vollmer. It was on the lines of the Benz with a horizontal-cylinder engine of 1924cc developing about 4bhp. The final drive was by belts. A 4 seater vis a-vis body was the most popular, though 2 seaters were also made. Later, 2 cylinder engines were used, and a 4 cylinder model appeared in 1903. This was more often marketed under the Bergmann name.
