1910 Burg
The L. Burg Carriage Company of Dallas City Illinois made buggies in Weaver, Iowa, from 1870 to 1900 when the plant was destroyed by fire and the company moved to Dallas City. After experimenting with a high-wheeler in 1907, Louis Burg adopted a conventional "Systeme Panhard" layout for the car he launched in 1910. It had a 30hp Rutenber 4 cylinder engine and was made in 3 styles, a 5 seater tourer, 5 seater roadster and a 3 seater runabout, ll of which were priced at $1750. For the 1911 model year they added a larger 6 cylinder model, rated at 50hp and priced at $2400 for a 7 seater tourer. This was the only offering for 1913, the engine now quoted at 60hp. It has been suggested that the move to six cylinders was the downfall of the Burg car. They ceased production in 1913, after about 50 had been made. Burg continued to to make buggies up to 1919, when falling demand forced them to close.
