Under the trade name Derby, J. Delin sarted making bicycles in 1890 and rapidly became one of the leading manufacturers in Belgium. By 1898, when he formed a limited company, he had 250 employees, and was already describing his activities as "Fabrique d'Automobiles et de Cycles", although cars did not appear until the following year. At the Brussels Exposition in March 1899, Delin showed a 2 seater duc powered by a French Loyal flat twin engine which he was making under licence. A year later he exhibited a very light voiturette on the lines of a PARISIENNE Victoria Combination, as well as a tricycle and a motorcycle. More individual cars appeared in 1901, a 2 seater voiturette with a 2.5hp engine, a 4 seater car and a delivery van with 4hp engins, and a 4 seater tonneau with an 8hp engine. The voiturette,s steering column was vertical, but the others had inclined columns in the modern manner. They should have sold well but the competition was too great, and the company was liquidated in January 1902. Some of the machinery was sold to Eugene Matthieu who made cars up to 1904.
