Fisson
Classic Fisson
L.Fisson, Paris. 1896 - 1898
Louis Fisson was amongst the first generation of car manufacturers in Paris, operating from a workshop at 14 Rue Maublanc in the 14th Arrondissement, to the south of the city. He built at least two distict types, one fairly closely based on the Benz, with rear-mouinted engine, and the other with a vertcal 2 cylinder engine of 2920cc at the front, driving through a 4 speed gearbox (with reverse available for all four speeds), and double-chain drive. Although a more up-to-date car on Panhard lines, it still retained three Benz features, lefthand drive, a pot-type surface carburettor, and two levers fdor selecting the gears. The frame was of armoured wood, and the body on a surviving car dated 1898 is a rear-entrance wagonette, described as a Ralli cart. A single car eas exhibited at the Paris Salon in December 1898, but few cars were made, and Louis Fisson disappeared from the motoring scene shortly afterwards.
