Lammas-Graham

Lammas-Graham 1936-1938, Lammas Limited , Sunbury-on-Thames. Middlesex.

This was one of the lesser known Anglo American hybrids of the late 1930's, which used a 3562 cc supercharged 6 cylinder Graham engine instead of the more usual Ford V 8 or Hudson units adopted by Allard, Brough Superior and Railton. The engine had a special alloy cylinder head and a downdraught carburettor, giving an output of 128bhp. The cahssis was a slightly modified Graham unit, with the usual English additions of Luvax shock absorbers and 12 volt electrics. The bodies were very English in style, a saloon by Carlton, drophead coupe by Abbott and a sports tourer by Bertelli. The Lammas-Graham was in the same class as the 3.5 litre SS Jaguar but considerably more expensive at £620 to £695. This was probably the main reason why the Lammas failed to attract more than about 30 customers. It changed little in the three years it was on the market, though more angular Bertelli bodies were used for the 1938 saloons. Production ended in the middle of that year.
