On it's first appearance at the Dutch Grand Prix on the 29th August 1976 the new Shadow DN8 Formula 1 car driven by Tom Pryce set the third fastest qualifying time. He finished fourth in the Grand Prix seven seconds behind the winner, James Hunt driving a McLaren.
