Intended for businessmen and entrepreneurs, the Royale was a study in passenger comfort and space. The interior, developed between IAD and Phillips, was finished off in white leather.
Centrally-mounted revolving rotary key pads, duplicated front and rear, replaced conventional controls for the in-car entertainment system, information centre and navigational system.
Based on a stretched Subaru body, the Royale also incorporated an LED screen integrated into the rear lights which displayed information relevant to road safety.
Another highly impressive exercise was the Royale, an imposing luxury express (grand tourer) with mature lines.
The interior was perhaps its most striking feature, decked out with leather and high-tech equipment, including one of the most sophisticated hi-fi systems ever seen on a car.
